Michael's Gate in Bratislava is one of the oldest town buildings. The gate has been preserved of the medieval fortifications. Michael's Gate was built about the year 1300, now it is the result of baroque reconstructions in 1758 (the statue of St. Michael and the Dragon was placed on its top).
Michael's Gate is named after St. Michael and St. Michael church that stood outside the town wall.
In past (Middle Ages) the town was behind fortified walls that surrounded it. Michael's Gate was the one of the four heavily fortified gates.

Nowadays the Exhibition of Weapons of Bratislava's City Museum is placed in the gate's tower. There is a museum of medieval fortification of Bratislava and arms.
There is a balcony (on the sixth floor) with a marvellous view of the Old City, Bratislava Castle and surround.
